Product Breakdowns made easy!

Updated: Sep 3, 2020

Some of our current favourite products

“Its a complete irony that no amount or abundance of makeup,

can actually represent true beauty.”

That’s right kids, quote me cause its true. As a makeup artist for over a decade, I can tell you the worlds most beautiful people are those who are beaming, glowing and so full of light and love on the inside, you cant help but notice them shining on the out. And all those clichés, “your smile is your best accessory”, “real beauty is skin deep” etc. are clichés because time and time again, they prove to be truth.“What’s my point?” you say? “Why is a beauty blogger saying makeup doesn’t equal beauty?” Because, I’ve never met you, but I’m pretty sure you are beautiful exactly as you are. That’s the most important message you need to extract from everything else I may ever post. If in the process of reading, you also pick up some great tips on enhancing your exterior, than hot diggity, that’s a double whammy I’m going to be very proud of.

As I’m fairly new to writing blogs, I felt it was important to introduce myself, and there’s no better way to getting to know a makeup artist, then to discover what her favourite products are. So, in no particular order, drum roll please……here we go.

1- Kevyn Aucoin Sensual Skin enhancer

Despite there being a little confusion on how this product is used, its actually quite simple because its used for everything!! Use only the size of a grain of rice for a full face of foundation coverage, thin it out with primer/moisturiser for a light finish almost as sheer as tinted moisturiser, or use it over eye cream for one of the best concealing products I’ve ever used. I have soo much respect for this versatile product.

2- By Terry Light Expert

The creator of Touche Eclar, and queen of everything light reflective, Terry de Gunzburg has definitely outdone herself with this click pen foundation. Absolutely sheer and radiant, with the most natural finish. Perfect on a dryer or more mature skin, or even layer over a heavier coverage for a dewy finish.

3- Nars Smudgeproof eye primer

Stop what you’re doing and check your eyeshadow. Has it creased since you applied it? Have you got eyeshadow fall out under your eyes? Is your eyeliner all of a sudden on your socket line instead of lash line? Well have I got good news for you! Applied with fingertips, this little gem will leave a beautiful mineral powder finish to your eyelids grinding a halt all your previous eye makeup woes, as well as enhancing the pigment from your products. To really nail the multitasking, they are available in 3 shades so you can create a soft eye shadow look that wont budge, in 1 product.

4- Troy Surrat lash curler

Starting his career assisting world makeup guru Kevyn Aucoin, Surrat has designed a cult lash curler definitely worth the hype. Curl before mascara to lift lashes and accentuate eye shape. Despite looking as though it could be apart of a dentists apparatus, it is nowhere near as scary to use as you may believe, and by George are the results worth it!

5- Mac Fix Plus

Love with a capital L. A favourite by makeup artists worldwide, spritz pre foundation for seamless application, post foundation for setting, mid makeup to help layering, there’s really no bad time to use this gem. Also comes in a matte version to help a more oily complexion.

6- Nars Velvet Matte Lip Pencil

As a self confessed Nars junkie, these pencils have been a staple in my kit for years. The colours may change, but the textures don’t! They’re a lip pencil and lipstick in one, enriched with Vitamin E and are to die for. Cult colours include Dragon Girl, Cruella and Damned.

7- Fenty Gloss bomb

Eventually solving the unpopular sticky lipgloss conundrum, Rhianna and the team at Fenty have released the most delightful lipgloss texture available in universal, glittery goodness. Head to Sephora to check out the full colour collection.

8- Revolution Eyeshadow Palette

Possibly the most exciting bang for your buck, these eyeshadows are packed with pigment and are arranged in clever colour combo palettes ranging from your everyday matte and nude, right through to the most bright and sparkly delight. Get your hands on them at any Priceline.

So there it is, a little about me and my makeup obsessions.

If you need any more information on the products I’ve listed, or anything else you have your eye on, please drop me a line! I’d love to help and chat all things makeup.
